Seven years ago actor Andy Garcia portrayed Arturo Sandoval in a biopic film about the renowned jazz musician. On Sunday Garcia and Sandoval will stand side-by-side on stage.

Garcia will try his hands on the congas alongside the Cuban trumpet-player and friends at the Arturo Sandoval Jazz Club in Miami Beach (inside the Deauville Beach Resort., 6701 Collins Avenue). Garcia will have plenty of help as saxophone player Ed Calle, pianists Paquito Echevarria and David Siegel, percussionist Tomas Cruz and vocalist Cheito Quinonez are all slated to take part in the jam session. A graduate of Miami Beach High, Garcia developed an appreciation for Cuban music at an early age and most recently has produced several records for master bass player Cachao. The show will be held inside the hotel’s Le Jardin room due to the large demand for tickets. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. For additional information call (305) 403-7565 or visit www.arturosandovaljazzclub.com. -- Fernando Ruano Jr.
