Bang! Music Festival "Postponed"

Everyone was atwitter about this year's edition of the Bang! Music festival, which started in 2005.

On one hand, people were amped to see blabbermouth Kanye West and the recently reunited (sans James Iha) Smashing Pumpkins on the lineup.

On the other hand, there was the strange mix of the few other acts who had been announced: the Bravery, festival-circuit staples like Spoon and Explosions in the Sky, Automatic Loveletter (?), and the Riverboat Gamblers (double ??), among a handful of others.

So was Bang totally forsaking its dance music roots? Was it aiming towards regular ol' festival rock? What was Bang trying to become?

Well, as of now, it's nothing. The festival's homepage has been taken down, with only this message:

"BANG Music Festival 2007 has been Postponed..

Refunds available at Point of Purchase."

Check out the archives of the events in 2005 and 2006 to see what could have been. More news as we get 'em. -- Arielle Castillo
