Bob Seger's Coming to South Florida, Live Nation Promises (Updated)

When you get a bulletin titled "Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band motor into South Florida -- fresh from their triumphant performance at the first Orlando Calling," there's more than enough intrigue to read on. Especially when our own Lee Zimmerman characterized the OC performance thusly: "Seger's superb show resonated with everyone there, proving indeed, to

quote one of his song titles, rock 'n' roll never, ever forgets."

And it's a shame that the Hollywood Sportatorium isn't still functional to host an epic run-through of "Hollywood Nights" and the loads of heartland rock hits from the Seger catalog. Even if it would be a pain in the ass to get out there, the headline writers would have a field day.

So, the next obvious question is, when and where is this marvelous Bob Seger show actually going to happen? Updated! The date has been announced!

I posed the question to publicist Woody Graber and got this response: "Wouldn't you like to know? You will be told when we are ready to tell. Details still being worked out."

Ouch. So, the cat is still trapped in the bag and hopefully won't suffocate.

Judging by the stature of the Seger name and the Orlando Calling headlining slot, there are only a few venues fit to hold the grizzled Detroit rocker down here. If it's not at Bayfront Park or American Airlines Arena or BankAtlantic Center or Cruzan Amphitheatre, we'll be shocked. Once the details are fully worked out, we'll share them here.

The details are fully worked out. Just got off the phone with Graber, and the date is confirmed.

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band. Thursday, January 12 at BankAtlantic Center, 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise. Tickets cost $39 to $99, and go on sale Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m. Click here.
