OMG! You're so, so ecstatic. It's crazy that you're actually gonna be there for Mos Def's brainy hip-hop throwdown this Saturday at the Arsht. The anticipation is enormous. It's like pretty, little butterflies dropping happy bombs in your belly every hour on the hour. And, to be honest, you've been geeking so hard that you've totally neglected your nightlife routine, staying home alone for an unheard-of five days, just communing with the spirit of Mr. Def via old videos, underground tracks, fan-boy clippings, Be Kind Rewind, and your Ouija board.
Admittedly, it's gotten weird. And Champion Sound is exactly the intervention you need. Tonight, the Wednesday party's hosting the official Miami release of Mr. Def's new album The Ecstatic. Basically, it's win-win: You won't suffer through any nasty hero-worshipping withdrawal, but you will get some much needed human-to-human social time. There'll be a live show by local B-boy Butta Verses, plus additional tuneage by resident DJs Mr. Brown, Sire Esq., and A-Train. Ladies get free drinks from 10-11:30 p.m. while the brothers get $5 beer all night. And, if you show up early, you might score a supersecret gift from Universal Records. Now ... All that's the good news. The bad? Mos probably won't make the scene. Sorry.
