Fedde Le Grand has been a staple of the Netherlands’ electronic dance music scene since the early 2000s, when he cofounded the renowned Sneakerz club night in Amsterdam and the Hague. But in the past few years, the Dutch DJ/producer has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame, starting with the massive commercial success of his track “Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit.” It became one of the most ubiquitous electro-house tracks of 2006. The following year, Le Grand swept the International Dance Music Awards at the Winter Music Conference, scoring Best Breakthrough Solo Artist, Best Breaks/Electro Sound, and Best Underground House Track. Also in 2007, he garnered two Danish Deejay Awards and an Australian MTV Award.
Le Grand’s industry accolades and record sales have only grown with the release of high-profile remixes for such artists as Sharam, Pete Tong, and Robbie Williams as well as compilation mixes for Ministry of Sound and Kontor Records. When “Let Me Think About It,” a 2008 collaboration with Ida Corr, reached number two on the U.K. singles chart and number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2008, Le Grand’s crossover appeal was cemented.
