Five Best Music Events in South Florida This Week

Already counting down the days till the start of Memorial Day Weekend ... and it's only Tuesday?

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, yet still so painfully far away. But fear not, weekend warriors. We're hooking you up with back-to-back live shows (and some kick ass parties) from legendary musicians and local artists.

Check out SoFla's five best music events this week to ease you into the holiday weekend. You can thank us later.

Pat Benatar.
As pointed out in a recent New Times article, "love comes in degrees and with tons of caveats." But for the crowned rock princess of the '80s, Pat Benatar, her pure, unadulterated love of music is what's given her that multi-platinum status. And while "Love [May Be] a Battlefield," entering the war zone that is love just might earn you a Purple Heart — or a lifetime of musical success, like Benatar.

With Neil Giraldo. Thursday, May 21, 8 p.m., Hard Rock Live, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood; 954-797-5531; Tickets cost $25 to $45 plus fees via

Rick Ross.
Ricky Rozay may be a Hood Billionaire livin' a "Drug Dealer's Dream," but that's not to say he doesn't keep a watchful eye on his cholesterol. That's why the once "self-proclaimed Fat motherfucker" does "CrossFit, i.e. #RossFit, [has] lost more than 100 pounds," and "even gave a shoutout to pears in an interview with British DJ Tim Westwood." Stay Bawse.

With Jeezy and Future. Presented by 99 Jamz. Saturday, May 23, 8 p.m., BB&T Center, 1 Panther Pkwy., Sunrise; 954-835-8000; Tickets cost $45.50 to $195.50 plus fees via

Memorial Day Weekend.
Oscar G may be 305 all the way, but homeboy has nothing but love for the 954. Party it up with South Florida's real O.G. at Stache and Revolution's Memorial Day Weekend block party.

With Oscar G and Roland at Stache 1920's Drinking Den, Icey, Babyanne, Merlyn, Supernaut, Shade, and Drop Zone at Revolution Live, and DJ Hans on the Patio. Saturday, May 23, 10 p.m. Stache 1920's Drinking Den, 109 SW 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-449-1044;, and Revolution Live, 100 SW 3rd Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-449-1025; Tickets cost $9 plus fees via Ages 21 and up.

The 9th Ever '80s Prom!
Plenty of neon, pink ruffles, and white suits. Those are the fashion tips you're gonna have to follow if you want to be crowned court royalty at the 9th Ever '80s Prom! But with spiked punch and cheesy prom pics underneath Respectable's balloon-covered archway, all will have a totally tubular night.

Sunday, May 24, 9 p.m. Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach; 561-832-9999; Admission is free.

Crises and Trashbat.
Show the MindStep crew how South Florida turns up on a Sunday as Crises and Trashbat take over the decks at Stache for Too//Future's Memorial Day Weekend rager.

Mindstep US Tour with Drew's Theory and Somejerk. Hosted by Ill Chill. Presented by Too//Future. Sunday, May 24, 10 p.m. Stache 1920's Drinking Den, 109 SW 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale; 954-449-1044; Admission costs $10. Ages 21 and up.
