You don't need to travel to New Orleans for a taste of Mardi Gras. Instead, get your Big Easy on at the reopening of Gigi's Music Café in Sunrise. The 12-hour Creole celebration will include live music, karaoke, food samples, and cheap drinks for the price of nada dollars.
The jams will be provided by Mandy Moon, George the Jazz Man, Paul Wilson and Friends, and others. The musical coffee spot has more than just new good looks to offer, too. There's an updated menu with novel items such as Mrs. P's chicken balls, fried chicken livers, and Creole deviled eggs. Just remember to keep your shirt on: It's not that kind of Mardi Gras party, ok?
4. Aces High Tattoo & the Limitless Agency Presents: Fuck Cancer (a benefit)

If you feel like doing something charitable but wild this weekend, then this is the appropriately titled event for you. West Palm's Respectable Street will be hosting a musical extravaganza with proceeds from the $10 cover chart benefiting local musician Michael Darling's mother, who is battling cancer. According to the Facebook event, she "has been THE band mom of all band moms to many people in our music scene." Thus, it's fitting that the event has not one, but two stages for live music. Expect performances from Old Habits, Cinderblock, Recoil, Sounds of the Rodeo, and many others. Plus, this event is for those 18 and up, so maybe you can convince your younger sibling to pay your cover charge if you drive. Hey, it's for a good cause.
3. The Sadie Hawkins Dance Party of Awesome

Sadie Hawkins parties say fuck you to the patriarchy. Girls ask guys out this Saturday at Anonymous Guitars. Bands planned to play include They Cage the Animals, Storyboard, Diamond Acts, and other local acts. Tickets start at $10, but get reduced to $9 each for those who bring a date or friend. Grow a pair and post a video asking your date/friend to the dance and your tickets will be $8 each. Think of it as the perfect warm up to Single Awareness Day, aka Valentine's Day, next week.
2. The Van Gogh-gos present: A Very Starry Art Market

Artsy musical group The Van Gogh-gos will be presenting a Very Starry Art Market this Saturday at Margate's Inkwell Pub. Aside from live art and vendors, there will be, most importantly, free entry and free parking. Expect musical performances by synthy band Wolfcat and surf punks Octo Gato along with an all around good time.
1. Metal Taco Fest: ShipRocked After Party

If metal bands and tacos decided to procreate, this event would be their baby. Kreepy Tiki presents two days of South Florida brutality with such acts as Loyal Until Death, Dead Between the Walls, Hate Machine, and Queen Dementia.
