Wednesdays are great, eh? They've got that quirky "hump day" distinction, marking the middle of the workweek with a pseudo sexual innuendo, and it's the day that new episodes of Modern Family premiere on ABC.

But at Green Room, Wednesdays are a real riot. In fact, they're called Riot Wednesdays 'round downtown Fort Lauderdale. It's the only day of the week that you'll find the best swing, rockabilly, and outlaw country music paired with $6 PBR and Jack shots as well as a sweet little taco bar, all under one roof. Green Room's Miguel Bravo says of his Mexican pick: "The best punk-taco combo is obviously a Sriracha smothered ground beef taco."

It's reasons like this that New Times slapped Green Room with the coveted Best Place to Meet Single Hipsters 2012 "Best Of" award. See, hipsters love vintage musical genres, cheap booze, and tacos, and the key to most alt's heart is dance. Befittingly, Riot Wednesdays feature free swing dancing lessons--known in hipster circles as musical speed dating, and, universally, as the number one reason you should get off your couch and into your finest greaser gear.

Park your motorcycle out front for free, then meet that pretty pin-up gal you've been dreaming about your whole life.

Riot Wednesdays. 10 p.m., January 9, at Green Room, 107 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale.
Entrance is free. Call 954-449-1030, or visit greenroomlive.com.
