The world's ugliest, most popular interplanetary purveyors of satirical thrash metal return for what seems like their monthly visit to South Florida. Yes, friends, GWAR (God What an Awful Racket, for the uninitiated) has landed yet again, ready to feed the wretched masses another bodily fluid-filled, bone-crushing metal feast. Led by Oderus Urungus (née Dave Brockie of the Dave Brockie Experience), the heavily costumed five-piece from Virginia has been wreaking havoc since the '80s. In almost 20 years, GWAR has cultivated fanatical devotion worldwide and even picked up a Grammy nomination for its video Phallus in Wonderland. With a show equally focused on visual presentation and music, the collective of hellraisers promises more politically incorrect, gruesome good times as it promotes its ninth album, the politically charged War Party. Just remember to wear old clothes -- it gets bloody wet and wild.

GWAR, with All That Remains and Dying Fetus, performs at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale, on Saturday, December 18. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $15 before the show, $18 the day of the show. Call 954-564-1074.
