Heavy Pets Play Funky Buddha Lounge Thursday and Friday

Fresh off their own festival Pet Zoo, which took place last Friday and Saturday, South Florida jam favorite the Heavy Pets will play the Funky Buddha Lounge Thursday and Friday. Over the last few years they've released two albums, the ambitious 21-track debut Whale and a self-titled album released in May. Now the lineup feels settled: bassists Felix Pastorius and former Spin Doctor Mark White left, and were replaced by Justin Carney. The band's growing renown has let to slots on  major festivals like Bonnaroo, Jazz Fest, and the regrettably dormant Langerado. But if you can't catch them this Thursday or Friday, they'll also play the Culture Room on August 20 and Roxy's Pub on August 31. After that, they'll participate in Southern Monster Smash Music Festival at Pompano Beach Amphitheater in October.

The shows at Funky Buddha Lounge, located at 2621 N. Federal Highway in Boca Raton, start at 10 p.m.
