In the Fold, Crease Is the Word

It's been a couple of months since the IPO of Only Human, the latest album from Fort Lauderdale rockers Crease, so momentum has built to a fever pitch for this week's official release party. Human is the band's best effort to date, a swing-for-the-fences, Rock-with-a-capital-R affair. Producer Charles Dye simultaneously focused and expanded Crease's arena-sized sound, arranging several of Human's tracks to stand alongside big leaguers like Pearl Jam or Aerosmith at their most listener-friendly. Word is the four-piece translates the album's radio-ready hooks and guitar grandeur into a phenomenal live performance, and tonight should find Crease working to impress its hometown crowd. Make sure you limber up before heading out -- all that head-banging and fist-pumping can leave you sore in the morning.

Crease celebrates the release of Only Human with DC-3, Season, and Ject at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 1, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Call 954-564-1074.
