Let There Be Metal

Solid State Youngbloods II Tour

The metal guitar riff ain't what it used to be, and the bands on the Solid State Youngbloods II Tour are here to remind you of that fact. Oh, there's plenty of low end and thrashy, palm-muted power chords to go around. But the sheer number of key changes and other complexities by a band like Chariot easily outnumber the riff count of metal bands past. Some like to use the m word (math), but Chariot's far too adventurous (and hardcore) to be associated with any sort of Pythagoras-inspired rock. Imagine a screamo version of Rollins-era Black Flag and you begin to get the point. Oh, and you might want to leave your pentagram necklace at home. Solid State Records is a division of Christian-core label Tooth & Nail, so there will be none of that devil's play.

Chariot, August Burns Red, Twelve Gauge Valentine, Destroy the Runner, and Inhale/Exhale perform Sunday, October 15, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $9.99 to $12. Call 954-564-1074, or visit
