Metal305 Hosts Black Sunday Vintage Motorcycle Swap Meet at Churchill's Pub

You ever think to yourself: Damn, I wish I could find an exhaust pipe for my vintage Vespa. And like at the same time I'm buying it, listen to music, sell these old brake levers I have lying around, and hang out with other people who ride motorcycles? Maybe at Churchill's?

Well, if your answer is "yes," you're in luck! Metal305, the guys who've been putting on the Thursday night vintage bike get-togethers outside of Wood and Lester's in Miami since July, are hosting a Black Sunday swap meet for vintage motorcycle enthusiasts.

Founders Matt Atkatz and Alex Mackenzie started Metal305 because, Matt says, they wanted to "help build and support the vintage motorcycle scene in South Florida." They both had an interest in vintage Italian bikes and met on, of all places, Instagram. They added in Aaron Willard, and now the trio are growing a scene that's expanding throughout the tri-county area. Next month, a group of guys involved in these meet-ups are organizing a similar event at Fort Lauderdale's 5 Points Lounge.

Of the night, Matt says, "There were two bikes that first night. Now four months later, the night has grown to around 100 bikes every Thursday."

This Sunday, they're adding to their activities and are moving to Churchill's for the day -- which seems the logical next step. He calls it: "Miami's first vintage and classic motorcycle swap meet." They'll have vendors buying, selling, and trading parts and advice. Expect live music with Los Bastardos Magnificos and three door prizes for Best Bike, Biggest Swap, and Best Biker Chick. Sign us up for that last one.

As far as how the 954 fits into the 305, Matt says, "a significant number of Metal305 regulars ride down from Broward, including owners of well-known motorcycle shops in the Broward area."

If you can't make it to the Wynwood on Thursday nights, ride over to 5 Points on December 9 to enjoy the totally tiki atmosphere and make a few new friends who also are overly attached to their two wheels of steel.

Vintage Motorcycle Night is hosted by Metal305 every Thursday outside Lester's and Wood on NW Second Ave., Miami. Black Sunday takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE Second Ave., Miami. And the new Vintage Motorcycle Night takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. at 5 Points Lounge, 2608 South Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.
