Moving Units: Radio-Active Records' Top 5 Releases for May 18-24

In our Moving Units column, Mike Ramirez at Fort Lauderdale's Radio-Active Records graciously keeps us up-to-date and comments on the current releases flying out of his store each week.

Radio-Active's assistant manager Paul Poletz kept the column alive last week while Ramirez went and abused his wallet in New York. There's nothing like an amazing trip to NYC to appreciate how affordable vinyl can be here in South Florida. Although Ramirez didn't run into LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy on his journey, there were a few "Drunk Girls" around.

Below, admire the week's top-selling albums and view one of the most bizarre LCD Soundsystem music videos ever created -- which is saying a lot -- as well as some prime blog bait of Murphy slipping a cover of Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" into a performance of "New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down."

Radio-Active's Top 5 Releases for May 18-24:

1. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening (DFA) "LCD Soundsystem and CocoRosie were all over NYC this past week while I was visiting."

"Drunk Girls" video:

"New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down" (with enhanced blog relevance, via the Awl):

2. Band Of Horses - Infinite Arms (Brown Records/Fat Possum/Columbia)

3. The Black Keys - Brothers (Nonesuch)

4. The National - High Violet (4AD) "Glad to see 'High Violet' still up in the charts!"

5. CocoRosie - Grey Oceans (Sub Pop)

Which albums will we be talking about next week?

"Next week we are looking at new LPs including Kurt Vile's Square Shells EP (Matador), Hank III's Rebel Within (Curb), Karen Elson's The Ghost Who Walks (XL/Third Man), Tobacco Maniac Meat (Anticon), and Slum Village's Villa Manifesto (Barak)."
