Here's another single from the upcoming Orion project, Hunting Season. Using a stellar cast of local rappers, this track doesn't entirely deviate from his traditional intellectual hip-hop, but it does come through with a certain eeriness. The subject matter is darker than usual, and it is accentuated with clever synth work and samples. There's a little paranoid echo throughout that I dig heavily. Could this be gothic hip-hop? Maybe even horror rap? No, this is dark because these seven guys are merely mirroring their South Florida environs.

But PETA might want to consider this track for its next campaign.

The Magic City has its fair share of dark and shadiness, and Manifesto, Serum, Sweet Jesus, LMS, SoloMan Spectrum, and Thousand do a great job building the narrative of armed versus the defenseless through their stanzas, and the payoff is sweet. The album should be in stores soon. In the meantime, this MP3 will have to do to stave off the hunger.
