The spine-tingling energy of the godfathers of glam the New York Dolls has a local story line coming up in July. However, the just-announced gig at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood is not quite what you think.

As you might gather from the photograph of Dolls' frontman David Johansen flanked by Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx at the right, there are some other rock 'n' roll heavyweights heading out on this June-to-August jaunt: Mötley Crüe and Poison. Yes, two bands that likely never could have existed in quite the same way without the pretty punk influence of the Dolls.

As is explicit in the news release announcing this tour, these dates should not "be confused with Poison's solo tour, 'Glam-A-Geddon 25.'" So don't do it.

Mötley Crüe. With Poison and New York Dolls. Tuesday, July 5, at Hard Rock Live, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Tickets go on sale March 18. Click here.
