Last week, the festival-going public commenced drooling for perhaps the only decent summer music gathering by announcing the dates -- July 15 through 17 at Chicago's Union Park -- for the Pitchfork Music Festival. Today, the initial lineup is unfurled for all to see and critique.
At $110 for a three-day pass, this is no budget breaker. Sure, the Strokes aren't playing it, but mid-July is an awful time of year to wear skinny jeans anyhow. Check out the bands announced so far broken up by day.
Friday, July 15:
-- Animal Collective
-- James Blake
-- Das Racist
-- Curren$y
Saturday, July 16:
-- Fleet Foxes
-- The Dismemberment Plan
-- Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti
-- Woods
-- Sun Airway
-- Kylesa
Sunday, July 17:
-- TV on the Radio
-- Cut Copy
-- Deerhunter
-- Destroyer
-- OFWGKTA
-- Yuck
Pitchfork kindly points out that ticket-buyers should be off to the races at 1 p.m. ET today, and that, "last year, three-day passes sold out in five days, so don't put it off." Get thee to pitchforkmusicfestival.com.
