Seek and Destroy

the Heatseekers

Arguably the hardest-working band in South Florida returns home after a triumphant showcase at this year's South by Southwest Festival. Garage 'n' roll foursome the Heatseekers are back once again to thrill downtown scenesters and innocent bystanders with their first-class rock. Featuring Owen Maclean on vocals/guitar, AC Cobra drummer Chris Maggio on rhythm, vampish vixen Terra Marie on bass, and the legendary Chuck Loose on skins, the black-clad troupe has been at it practically nonstop in recent years promoting its debut full-length, In Praise Of... .

The disc's sound testifies to the Heatseekers' love of the Nuggets compilation-era bands: raw, energetic, and undeniably melodic. If there were any doubts of the group's dynamism, then its live show will erase them. The band delivers at a blistering pace, giving a hot new sheen to that old-time rock 'n' roll. It's unhinged, furious, and fun as hell.

The Heatseekers play with the Remnants and High Strung at 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Poor House, 110 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Free. Call 954-522-5145.
