Summer Blanket

It's amazing to see the singer/songwriter genre garnering indie-rock cred. Kids who listened to punk and alternative rock have grown up into adults who understand that turning down and looking inward can be just as powerful as their "loud and fast" roots. Take, for instance, Summer Blanket, a band led by the subdued Keith Michaud. Michaud, the group's only official member, is formerly of emo rockers Maypop, but here lowers the intensity level to a whisper. Driven by his low vocals and acoustic guitar, Summer Blanket is the sound of roots rock and gentle pop intimately regarding each other. The new album, Whisper Louder, comes out in February on Pop Up records, but why wait?

Summer Blanket plays at 10 p.m. Sunday, December 26, at Dada, at 52 Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. Admission is free. Call 561-330-DADA.
