The Deep End

As two South Florida-centric shows, The Real World: Key West and 8th and Ocean, start this week on MTV, you have to wonder how much of a role the local techno-dominated music scene will play in them. The Real World will most likely stay away and stick with the parrothead life of Margaritaville. But for the models on Ocean Drive, where hanging out at chichi clubs is like going to a business meeting — Miami native Oscar G must land on the soundtrack at least once in the series. Oscar Gaetan, one-half of the celebrated Murk, has been a big part of Miami's club scene since the early '90s. His hand behind the decks is as well-respected as it is in the studio, with his ten-hour-long sets at Club Space holding revelers hostage the entire time. Chances are MTV won't take a field trip to Fort Lauderdale for G's set at Voodoo Lounge, but we're betting you'll get to see a bunch of models make fools of themselves anyway — and they won't even be on television.

Oscar G will spin from 1 to 4 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Voodoo Lounge, 111 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 in advance from Call 954-522-0733 for VIP registration.
