Just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in! Proving the worth of its name, snazzy Las Olas nightspot Karma Lounge is now reinstated in downtown Fort Lauderdale¹s good graces. To help christen the affair, DJs/promoters Geo Lopez and Mike Lazaurdo, along with Mike Bledsoe¹s Uplift AM, present Project Mayhem, a free bash that kickstarts Karma¹s comeback.

Featuring celebrated breaks DJ Eclipse, as well as Slip187 (Lopez) and, yet again, Miami¹s Devine + Emily Play, Project Mayhem further proves that there¹s plenty of room on the dance floor for breakbeats and electro. ³I firmly believe that breaks and electro are making a comeback,² Bledsoe insists. ³Electro has infiltrated many of the electronic music genres and is even being incorporated into the Chicago house sound.² Bledsoe has ushered in some of that Midwest flavor to South Florida, having created Uplift AM after moving here late last year. Uplift, he says, is ³dedicated to the rise of up-and-coming DJs, artists, models, and musicians.² Luckily for Bledsoe and the gang, Karma¹s the ideal locale to spot every one of these types. Bring on the bedlam.

Project Mayhem mixes chaos with cocktails at 10 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Karma Lounge, 4 W. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Featuring DJs Eclipse, Slip187, and Supernaut, among others. The event is free and will be simulcast in its entirety on 1300 AM. Call 954-523-7159.
