For anyone who wants to relive the horrors of private school -- rulers wrapping your knuckles, rulers measuring the length of your skirt, you being denied pudding if you don't eat your meat -- then get thee to Thee Academy. This new monthly Brit-pop dance party has a strictly enforced dress code. "Thee Head Master" took time from terrorizing new students to declare it so: "Smart, dark slacks, white shirts, sassy skirts, and knee-high socks, please! Everyone must represent their school with the appropriate necktie -- diagonal stripes only! You too, girls!" Expect a performance from that cheeky Jerry Cherry and his Revolution and sets from DJs Grand Theft Otto and Aaronius Monk. If you want to study before the show, listen to the Kinks and the Who for three hours every night. -- Audra Schroeder
Thee Academy is in session at 10 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the Red Lion Pub, 10114 S. Military Trl., Boynton Beach. Admission is free unless your outfit is deemed inappropriate; then there's a $5 penalty fee. Call 561-737-0434.
