Fans of Dave Matthews know Tim Reynolds as the quiet guy who has occasionally flanked Dave over the years and blows minds each time with his masterful guitar work. Reynolds used to perform a lot at a Virginia bar where Matthews worked, and he encouraged the young man to start a band with some guys he knew, including Carter Beauford and LeRoi Moore. As for TR3, which features Reynolds on guitar and vocals, with bass and drum accompaniment, it has been active for close to 30 years.
In 2008, Reynolds signed on as permanent lead guitarist for DMB, but the hard-working Reynolds has filled his spare time with solo shows and TR3 tours and even managed to earn himself a 2011 Grammy nomination in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for "Kundalini Bonfire" from his and Matthews' Live in Las Vegas album. Let's hope he busts out this beauty during a night that is sure to be radiant with guitar wizardry.
