When it comes to the marriage of straight-ahead rock with experimental schizoid, nobody does it better locally than Hollywood-based freak-out band Tongues of the Heartworm. They've only been playing together for a couple of years, but they've already developed a sound that deserves to be respected for its sheer bravery and sonic cohesion alone. Comprised of Rick Ambrose on guitar, Stephen "Wolfie" Johnson on bass (both formerly of Postface), and Fausto Figueredo (formerly of Load) on drums, these three South Florida music veterans know what it takes to keep a crowd entertained. They're known for dressing up in costumes — even in drag to get a few laughs, but make no mistake, once they plug in and start playing, you'll quickly realize their music isn't a joke.
