Tonight! The Methodaires Prep You for Turkey Day at Poor House

The Methodaires are such a refreshing welcome to the South Florida musical landscape, we almost wish they'd perform with a little more frequency. But in lieu of saturating the local airwaves with their infectious reggae-ska, we'll take the occasional gigs when they occur. Now everybody knows that this coming weekend is notorious for waist sizes expanding and for the minute sour notes that holidays encompass in these trying economic times, so it is nice to have the Methodaires doing their part at the Poor House tonight with some heavenly tunes made for preemptively dancing the coming calories away!

It's no secret that Nia Devine's pipes are stellar, and you can bet to have them ditties ringing through the family and friends festivity and well into the chaotic mayhem of Black Friday, which we here at the Grind find is a day better spent relaxing at home with good music and some digestives. Howitzer will balance out the night with its street-punk sensibilities, so come down ready to dance and enjoy a few drinks and to get the tailend of 2010 off to a good start.

The Methodaires and Howitzer at 11 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at the Poor House, 110 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. No cover. 21 and up. Call 954-522-5145.
