Finishing in the top five of American Idol doesn't always guarantee contestants a road to success. Fort Myers resident Vonzell Solomon made it into the top three back in 2004, the same year country singer Carrie Underwood won it all, but Solomon hasn't exactly been a household name since finishing so high in everyone's favor. She released a moderately known demo disc, My Struggle, under the name Baby V earlier this year, but for the most part, she's been out of the public eye until recently. Solomon has a small role in the independent film Still Green, which is playing at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival this week, and she'll be in town not only to support the movie but also for a pre-album-release party. Welcome back, Baby V! While speaking with Solomon via phone last week, she said that she'll be singing songs from her upcoming album and giving listeners a sneak peak at a project that's roughly three years in the making. She also revealed that the album still doesn't have a name, but it is finished, and she's looking for all the crowd support she can get. If you happen to be a diehard Solomon fan and think she's got lots more talent than that honky-tonk-singing Underwood, well, here's your chance to show some real support and see Solomon twice in one night.
