Better Than: Most vocal-accompanied house music.

I've got to admit I don't know much about Sneaky Sound System apart from what I've heard played at the clubs. So when the Sydney trio were scheduled to make a rare appearance at LIV's Wednesday night Dirty Hairy party, I took notice.

The group's sound is often is described at electro-house or electro-clash, which I think definitely doesn't describes the group's sound accurately. They definitely aren't producing straight house music, given that their songs always seem to be aware of its pop potential. Much of the "blame" for Sneaky's pop sensibilities falls squarely on vocalist Connie Mitchell, whose soulful house-diva vocal delivery commands your attention.

Mitchell, outfitted with a PVC bright-blue skirt and thick chain with a Lego-constructed appendage of the recognizable Chanel logo that adorned her neck took to the stage with authority along with MC Double D and Black Angus. Their 45-minute set went through their staple of dancefloor from their both albums Sneaky Sound System and 2 including "It's Not My Problem," "UFO," "I Love It,"  and "Pictures."

However, the same problem that plagued The Juan Maclean also was an issue for Sneaky Sound System. But for a group who has not released a single album in the United States (that's right, none of their albums are available as domestic releases, not even on iTunes), they seemed to take on the challenge head on. People weren't exactly clapping and singing along with excitement, but the crowd eventually started moving as Mitchell said they were about to bring it "Miami-style." Miami-style apparently is breaking into Daft Punk's "Aerodynamic" as Mitchell used her microphone as a makeshift guitar. The crowd loved it.

Critic's Notebook

Personal Bias: LIV's lighting system is so damn amazing it undoubtably can make even the most mediocre performance stellar.

By The Way: Dirty Hairy handed out free T-shirt designed by local artist Freegums.

Random Detail: Sneaky Sound System did have a mini-fanclub on sorts who were singing along to every song.
