Support the independent voice of South Florida and help keep the future of New Times free.
Now you did it again, Lil Wayne. We're sitting here reading an incarcerated rapper's blog and getting all misty eyed with his message to the mothers of the world -- several of whom happen to be the mothers of Weezy's own children.
On Friday, he posted "Letter #02: A Mother's Worth" to WeezyThanxYou.com, and has since been retweeted more than 300 times, and received more than 240 comments for a message of love that is eloquent enough to make a person want to torch every last contrived Hallmark card on the planet.
He writes:
The love between a mother and her offspring is
hands down the most beautiful thing God created. More than money, more
than fame, more than cars. You know why? Because true love is the only
thing that lasts from the moment you're born to the second you perish.
To all the mothers who read this letter, I hope this day allows you to
feel the love and respect you so rightfully deserve. You are the role
models, not me.
of the entry here, and if you didn't call Mom yesterday, probably
best to crib some of the thoughts here for your damage control today.
Keep New Times Broward-Palm Beach Free... Since we started New Times Broward-Palm Beach, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of South Florida, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering South Florida with no paywalls.
