As any tourhead knows, there's no better way to spend New Year's Eve than with a free-spirited, anything-goes kinda band. The big night may have just passed us by, but there's still time to catch the wave of New Monsoon while it is in full, fresh New Year's glory. The unique San Francisco septet jams together jazz, rock, and percussion-based trance, all done with an exotic, international flare. Just check the instruments up there onstage: congas, timbales, tabla, banjo, bongos, dobro, didgeridoo, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and the kitchen sink (just kidding). New Monsoon's array of sounds creates a dizzying array of sounds, like turning from Pink Floyd to the Allman Brothers to your neighborhood drum circle. Hot off a two-night New Year's run in Jacksonville, New Monsoon hits Lake Worth before setting sail on Jam Cruise this weekend. Ahoy, maties!

New Monsoon plays at 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, at the Bamboo Room, 25 S. "J" St., Lake Worth. Tickets cost $18. Call 561-585-2583.
