Kidding aside, the Marlins' March 27 matchup at 4:10 p.m., cutely dubbed Opening Dade, is surprisingly intriguing, for reasons before, during, and even after the game. In fact, if you’re a Marlins fan who checked out long ago, this might be the perfect excuse to take a half-day and watch a lineup filled with unfamiliar faces strut their stuff.

Good Seats Are Still Available (and Cheap!)
Generally speaking, scoring a Miami Marlins ticket isn't the toughest of tasks, given that the team has finished in the bottom three in the league in attendance every season since 2017. (Possible exception: Flanigan's jersey day.) As of this writing, tickets for the Marlins-Pirates opener remain available for under $20. That said, Miami is an "event town," so expect an uptick in demand as Thursday dinner plans change to Hey, isn't there a beer garden where the Marlins play? The one and only Dan Marino will take the mound for an unforgettable Opening Dade first pitch on 3.27.25 💥 pic.twitter.com/wKIox2geRM

Dan Marino Throws Out the First Pitch
Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, AKA the right arm of God, is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Marlins-Pirates game. Your chances of witnessing Dan Marino throw a sports ball in your lifetime are dwindling by the day.The Opening Day Starting Pitchers Are a Dream MatchupThe Opening Day Matchup is set! After sitting out all of 2024 with a UCL injury, 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcántara is set to take the mound as the Marlins' Opening Day starter. What's more, Alcántara will toe the slab opposite 2024 NL Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes, who placed third in last season's Cy Young race.
(For those of you at home looking for a way to get your girlfriend out to the park, toss in a mention that in addition to being the future face of MLB, Skenes is also the boyfriend of Livvy Dunne, an LSU gymnast and social media influencer who has over 20 million combined followers across all platforms.)
Bonus: As of this writing, Griffin Conine, son of OG Marlins great Jeff Conine, stands a very good chance of making the Opening Day roster after the proverbial cup-of-coffee call-up at the end of last season.

0-0 Marlins Are Still in the Playoff Hunt
The odds of the Marlins winning the 2025 World Series are +50,000 — rightOn the bright side, the team's starting rotation looks competitive, though injuries to Ryan Weathers and Edward Cabrera dimmed that bulb of optimism late in spring training.
But the great thing about Opening Day is that everyone comes in with a record of 0-0. If you want to experience a Marlins game and not feel like you're all alone (or like you stumbled into an Airbnb for Yankees or Cubs fans), you need to get in while the pennant chase is hot.
🚨 Luis Fonsi and Flo Rida are teaming up for a postgame concert like you’ve never seen before - only at Opening Dade!

Stick Around: Luis Fonsi and Flo Rida Headline Postgame Concert
If Opening Day baseball, a Dolphins legend, and Livvy Dune's boyfriend aren't your thing — may we interest you in a postgame concert? As Opening Day turns to Opening Night, the Marlins will host a postgame concert on the field featuring Luis Fonsi ("Despacito") and Carol City's own Flo Rida. OK, so these guys are nearly as old as Griffin Conine's dad, but this feels like a great way to close out an afternoon of baseball before heading out into the thick of Miami Music Week.
