A political bromance is brewing between Florida’s former governor and the mayor of New York City, leading the New York Post to speculate that Jeb Bush and Michael Bloomberg are plotting a political marriage of sorts, running for the White House in 2012.
On one hand, it makes sense. Both Bush and Bloomberg are Republican traditionalists who must feel alienated from the party since it’s been pushed right by Palin, Limbaugh and Beck. Bush has a big name and can reel in a big state. Bloomberg has big bucks.
But it’s hard to imagine
Bloomberg would bankroll this venture, only to play second fiddle to
Bush. Remember, Bloomberg nearly ran for the presidency in 2008. Nor
does it seem likely that Jeb would be happy on the bottom of a ticket,
considering his presidential pedigree.
