That DUI checkpoint we told you about last week ended up nabbing a few impaired drivers, one person with drugs on their person, and a bucketload of citations and warnings.

All this, even though our story was tweeted out more than 50 times and shared by more than 5,000 people on Facebook.

Also, this even though people know it's always dumb to drink and drive.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, its special DUI Task Force that set up shop at 2850 N. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach on Saturday evening at 9 until 5 a.m. Sunday made four arrests at the checkpoint.

The arrests were for three DUIs and one narcotics arrest for possession of cannabis.

The BSO task force also handed out 76 citations and issued 28 warnings.

As of now, there are no other scheduled DUI checkpoints coming up. But we'll be sure to pass on the word if and when they pop up.

Of course, that doesn't mean you're now free to drink and drive willy-nilly. BSO deputies are still out there, patrolling the streets, and making sure you don't do anything dumb.

The lesson here, of course, is that you should never, ever drink and drive.

The lesson is also to be sure and read the Pulp.
