Before you head out for the weekend to either hit up Art Basel or get as far away from it as humanly possible, you should know that the Broward Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DUI checkpoint tonight in Pembroke Pines.

BSO says the DUI enforcement operation will be going down at the Pines Optimist Club, located at 7400 Pines Blvd., in Pembroke Pines on Friday night into Saturday morning.

The checkpoint is scheduled to be conducted between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.

The Broward Sheriff's Office DUI unit, along with partnering law enforcement agencies, will be conducting the operation.

"The purpose of this checkpoint is to detect and arrest drivers who are impaired and posing an immediate threat to the safety of the general public," says BSO spokesperson Gina Carter. "Broward Sheriff’s Office says they will be actively enforcing DUI laws and identifying impaired drivers in and around the area."
