William Schramm, the 65-year-old man who was struck by a Fort Lauderdale police cruiser on Las Olas Boulevard on Saturday, has died from his injuries.

According to the Fort Lauderdale police news release, at 12:04 a.m., Schramm's bicycle was eastbound on East Las Olas Bouelvard, making a left turn onto Isle of Venice, putting him squarely in the path of a police car driven by Sgt. Jamie Costas.

The release does not indicate that Costas was responding to an emergency. Witnesses to the accident are encouraged to contact
