Does Todd Wilder Know Something We Don't?

Everybody in Broward's political and journalistic circles has heard the rumor that Sheriff Ken Jenne is going down as a result of a recent federal grand jury investigation into his finances. I've heard from two sources that Gov. Charlie Crist has compiled a short list of who might replace him. It's all speculation right now, but a tiny news brief in the Sun-Sentinel seems to bolster the idea that a dramatic change is coming at BSO.

On page 6B comes the two-column-length headline: "Jenne chief of staff quits to move north." That would be Todd Wilder, who just took the top job three months ago and has been employed by Jenne for the past six years. Why did he quit his $137,000-a-year job? Said Wilder: "I'm just anxious to get back home. My family thinks it a good chance to get us to move."

It could be that simple. Or not.
