Former GOP Chair Arrested

Jim Greer, former chairman of the Republican Party and a close friend of Gov. Charlie Crist's, was arrested this morning in connection with allegations that he formed a slush fund using contributions from party supporters. The Orlando Sentinel has the story.

This won't help Crist's campaign for U.S. Senate. On the other hand, it may not hurt as much as it would if Crist were still campaigning as a Republican. It would be a spectacular act of dishonesty and cynicism for Crist to pretend as though he wasn't a supporter of Greer, even as it became clear that Greer had either woefully mismanaged or simply raided the party coffers.
