Two months ago, teenager Charles Gay managed to cut off his ankle bracelet and leave Broward County in hopes of never facing charges of violating probation in connection with a 2007 manslaughter conviction.
In March 2007, Gay was smoking marijuana with four friends at his home in Coral Springs when he pointed a sawed-off shotgun at one of those friends.
In what police later said was an accidental shooting, Gay pulled the trigger, striking 17-year-old Michael Migneco in the torso, killing him. The shotgun was stolen. The other friends at the home told police that Gay and Migneco had not been fighting before the gunshot.
