Police are looking for a blue pickup truck or SUV in connection with a hit and run that killed 17-year-old Gabriel Amaya last night.

The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that Amaya was riding his bike east on Prospect Road around 9:40 last night when a GMC or Chevrolet truck hit his front tire, shooting him out onto the road. The driver reportedly stopped, got out briefly, then fled. Amaya was pronounced dead at Broward Medical Center.

Police say the pickup or SUV was likely made between 1995 and 1999 and might have an after-market blue paint job. They believe it took heavy damage to the left headlight, front grill, and side-view mirror. If you know anything, the BSO asks you to call Det.
