A family with the name Gallagher ought to be celebrating on a day like today. But not the family of former Broward County School Board member Beverly Gallagher. This afternoon, she entered a guilty plea to a charge of accepting a bribe from an undercover agent and expects to receive a prison sentence of 37 months this June.
Gallagher joins former Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion, who entered his own guilty plea last week to similar charges. The third public official to be targeted in the federal sting, Fitzroy Salesman, a former commissioner in Miramar, is scheduled for trial next week.
