Lauderdale High Schooler Hits Numero Uno

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, and Dwight Howard: Before they were NBA stars each was merely the top-ranked player in their national class of high school basketball recruits.

So that gives young Brandon Knight something to shoot for. The 6-foot-3 junior at Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale. Last week the national college recruiting website Rivals.com reshuffled its rankings for the class of 2010, declaring Knight to be the best.

Among the other prominent recruiting services, Scout.com rates Knight third in his class. ESPN says Knight's the nation's best point guard and puts him in what looks like an 8-way tie for No. 1. Hoop Scoop puts the kid fourth.

Here's Knight in action at a camp last summer.
