Eighteen-year-old Steven Rutty was found shot dead by his stepfather in the bathroom of their family's Lauderale Lakes home on Monday.

The home was ransacked, but there were no signs of forced entry. According to some neighbors, the door to the bathroom appeared to have been kicked in.

Rutty appeared to be acting nervous the night before, says his family. But he wouldn't tell them what was the matter.

And now Rutty's family is saying they believe the teen was killed execution style.

On Monday afternoon, Broward Sheriff's Office detectives responded to the family's home located on the 3700 block of Northwest 27th Avenue.

Rutty had apparently been killed some time between the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon.

The family says Rutty came home Monday morning at 4:00 a.m.

According to Rutty's uncle, Richard Simpson, something wasn't sitting well with Steven the night before his death.

"He looked like something was wrong but he said nothing was wrong," Simpson said. "That was the last time I saw him."

Simpson also says Rutty had his shares of ups and downs, at times hanging around with the wrong crowd.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Rutty had been arrested as a juvenile several times starting in 2009.

As of Tuesday, police have made no arrests, and are asking for anyone with information to come forward and call the Broward Sheriff's Office (954-765-4321).
