Lauderdale Police Name Suspect in Shooting of Teen

Rodney Squires is the suspect in a shooting that occurred around 12:30 this morning at a home for teens in Fort Lauderdale. The police department's release:

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was in the parking lot at 1036 Northeast 3rd Avenue listening to music with three juvenile females. The suspect, Rodney Squire, became involved in a verbal dispute with another individual inside of the parking lot. The dispute escalated and Squire retrieved a handgun from his waistband area. Squire discharged his firearm striking the victim. The victim suffered a superficial grazing laceration to the right side of her head. The victim was transported to Broward General Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries.
The shooting occurred outside the Agency for Community Treatment.
