Mini-Reporter: Barack Obama Could Not Be Reached for Comment

Damon Weaver, the Canal Point Elementary fifth-grader who trekked to Washington, D.C., in hopes of getting some inauguration day face time with the new pres, got stuck at a security checkpoint and didn't even get to see Barack Obama's historic speech.

Well, kid, now that you've been stood up for an interview, you're a real journalist. Prepare yourself for a lifetime of sources inventing flimsy excuses to duck your questions. But, hey, interviews with Joe Biden and Dwyane Wade, plus photo ops with the likes of U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler (above) are a nice consolation prize. If there's still a journalism industry when you graduate from college, you stand an excellent chance of landing a job.
