Police Release Info on Strong-Arm Robbery at Fort Lauderdale Hustler Store

Fort Lauderdale police are looking for a white male shown in surveillance footage from a Hustler store in connection with a May 20 strong-armed robbery.

The man waited outside the store at 1500 E. Sunrise Blvd., talking on his phone around 11:15 p.m. -- he stood near the door and robbed the first person who came out, ripping the purse from her hands. Though she resisted briefly, he ended up with her purse, and she ended up on the ground.

He's described as a white male, about five-foot-eight and 170 pounds. Photographs indicate he was wearing an extremely stupid-looking jacket and was in his mid- to late 20s. Police released a video of the encounter, but it's in a format that has baffled me all afternoon. "He stood there, and then he took a purse, and then he ran away" seems to cover it.

Police are also looking for a second suspect, who used one of the woman's credit cards across the street at a Walgreens shortly after the crime. She's described as a black female, about five-foot-five and 135 pounds. Photos of both are below. If you know anything, police ask you to call Det. Elijah Thomas at 954-828-6093.
