Monica, one of the major R&B acts advertised for Saturday's Mango Festival, was not planning to perform on that day. Rather, she was booked to play at a birthday bash for an Atlanta radio station that same Saturday. Photos from that performance are here.

Another major artist booked for Saturday, Chrisette Michelle, was never paid on the front end and according to a well-placed source had canceled her own plans to perform. It appears that promoters sold tickets to the Mango Festival's Saturday shows knowing that they would not be able to deliver Monica or Michelle.

Festival organizers had booked Monica for Sunday and according to a source she was paid half of her fee, with the other half to come after her performance. The artist boarded a flight for South Florida and only learned during the middle of the flight that the show had been canceled.
