Richie Incognito Harassed and Bullied Teammates, Ted Wells Report Concludes

Ted Wells' independent report on the Miami Dolphins has been released, and according to the findings, Richie Incognito and at least two other players did, in fact, bully Jonathan Martin.

The 148-page report says Incognito, along with teammates John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, were involved in not only bullying Martin but also another offensive lineman as well as an assistant trainer. There were homophobic slurs, name-calling, improper physical contact, and taunting.

Wells goes on to say that nothing in his findings suggests that Martin made up anything he's been saying.

In other words, Martin might've been right when he came out and made the bullying accusations.

Back in November, Jason Cole of the National Football Post reported that Incognito and at least one other Dolphins player apparently mocked the ethnic background of an unnamed staffer and made crude sex jokes about his wife.

And, according to Wells' report, that report seems to have a lot of merit.

"The Report finds that the assistant trainer repeatedly was the object of racial slurs and other racially derogatory language," Wells says in the report.

He goes on to write that "the other offensive lineman was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching; and that Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."

Wells also writes that Incognito "engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Jonathan Martin but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman."

The investigation, which was launched following Martin's exit from the team and his public accusations of bullying, allowed Wells access to thousands of documents, text messages, and emails. Wells also conducted more than 100 interviews with Dolphins players, coaches, members of the front office, and owner Stephen Ross.

"We have just received the report from Ted Wells and will review it in detail before responding relative to the findings," Ross said in a statement. "When we asked the NFL to conduct this independent review, we felt it was important to take a step back and thoroughly research these serious allegations. As an organization, we are committed to a culture of team-first accountability and respect for one another."
