Rina Expected to Come to Fort Lauderdale With a 50 Percent Chance of Rain, Some Wind

What's currently "Hurricane" Rina is expected to be some wind and possible rain by the time it would affect Fort Lauderdale, according to multiple weather forecasts.

Rina is expected to weaken from a category two hurricane to category one tomorrow, and while South Florida isn't in the direct path of the storm, it's still in that "cone of possibility."

The east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is currently under a hurricane warning, but the National Hurricane Center says the storm is expected to gradually weaken, and, of course, say the forecasting models "disagree."

Two of the models say Rina will likely weaken "very quickly" around the Yucatan Peninsula, while another one says it looks like a "stronger cyclone" will cross South Florida, and the rest of the models are "between these extremes."

In general, though, the National Hurricane Center says it expects Rina to weaken pretty quickly in the next 36 to 48 hours, maybe even faster than it has forecast.

That brings us to Fort Lauderdale's weather forecast over the next few days: some wind and maybe some rain. Thunderstorms are possible too.

There's a 50 percent chance of rain tomorrow, with winds as high as 15 mph accompanying thunderstorms through Friday.

By Saturday, there's still a 50 percent chance of rain, but without the thunderstorms.

Through Tuesday, the chance of rain decreases to 20 percent, and it might be "breezy."
