From his boyish looks and broad smile, you'd think that's a senior yearbook photo, but Broward Sheriff's Office investigators say that the man pictured, John Jenkins, is a shooter. He's the suspect in a chilling murder attempt that occurred last week in Dania Beach. According to BSO, Jenkins was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase when he knocked on the door of Tobias Barfield's home, then shot the 42-year-old man before climbing into a white Infiniti and driving off.

Barfield survived the encounter.

The BSO news release describes Jenkins thus:

He is 5-foot-9 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He drives a white Infiniti with a Miami Dolphins tag. Detectives have obtained a warrant for his arrest. He will face charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jenkins is considered armed and dangerous. Detectives believe the attack was not random but that Barfield was an intended target.

Barfield was initially transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood after the shooting. He has been released and is expected to recover from his injuries.

Anyone with information about Jenkins is asked to contact Det. Valerian Perez at 954-321-4224 or report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at 954-493-TIPS or send an email to browardcrimestoppers.org.
