Sounds like the Broward Sheriff’s Office has been tracking Michael Woolf,
35, for several months. And that it suspects he’s been tracking
underaged girls all the while, not just online but from his perch atop
the lifeguard tower. Here’s the BSO release:

A South Florida lifeguard was arrested in Cooper City after soliciting a girl on the Internet and traveling to meet her for a sexual encounter. Luckily, the girl was actually a Broward Sheriff’s Office detective, but investigators know this was not his first time doing this.

The name “Michael Woolf” first popped into BSO detective’s radar at the beginning of the year. At that time Woolf was soliciting a detective overseas posing as a child on the Internet and even wanted to travel there to meet the “underage child” in person.

Fast-forward to last Wednesday, July 15. I.C.A.C. Detective Joe Vella
was online posing as a 14-year-old girl when he was contacted by
someone with the screen name “MIKE4RUMIAMI1.” It was Michael Woolf.
Detective Vella chatted with Woolf for about an hour and then again on
Friday, July 17, for about two hours. The conversations quickly turned
sexual in nature, and by the end of the second chat, he was asking to
meet the young girl for a sexual encounter.

The detective set up the
meeting at a fast-food restaurant in Cooper City. Once Woolf arrived, he
was taken into custody. He was charged with using a computer to solicit
or lure a child and traveling to meet a child he lured through the use
of a computer and is currently out on bond.
In the chats, Woolf mentioned he was a lifeguard, which causes a great
concern for detectives due to his potential access to children.
Anyone who has been solicited online by “MIKE4RUMIAMI1” or in person by
Michael Woolf should contact BSO Detective Joe Vella at 954-888-5240,
or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
