On what was arguably the most pleasant night, weather-wise, that we've had so far this season, Art/Heart made great use of it by throwing an indoor/outdoor art and music event in Pompano.

The scene was lively, with a good sized crowd exploring the work of local artists inside, and mingling to the sounds of locals bands on stage in the outdoor courtyard area. There was also booze flowing, live painting, and bouts of dance floor action, making it a well rounded, colorful affair.

For those of us who have lived in South Florida for longer than a decade, simply attending a cultural event on the grounds of the old Pompano Fashion Square -- which was typically about as cultural as a hot dog cart -- was a beautiful thing.

Where there once was a food court, there now was a scene buzzing with art-minded conversation. It's great to see artists get into a perfectly suitable, but less obvious space, in order to do an event. Many of the exhibiting artists were in attendance and more than glad to talk about their work with fellow artists and enthusiasts. In all, the event was centered around that work, rather than booze or dancing, and attendees seemed to be refreshed by that.
